Indicative Deadlines

Since our products are handmade and shipped from different countries, the delivery times vary depending on the product you purchase.

Estimated Shipping Times:

  • 3-10 Days for Katanas of our brand. (Depends on craftsmanship complexity).
  • 5-15 Days for custom-made Katanas.
  • 120-180 Days for Thaitsuki Katanas.
  • 15-45 Days for Antique Swords (Tokyo Nihonto).

Delivery Times:

  • Approximately 7-21 Days.

Delivery with decorated wooden box: only one decorated box will be shipped if you order several Katanas.


Delivery implies the transfer to the consumer of physical possession or control of the product. Risks incurred by the received products are transferred to the customer.

Orders are delivered to the address you provided. Katana Sword cannot be held responsible in the case of entering an incorrect address on your part (delivery charges would apply if the consumer entered the wrong delivery address, and Katana Sword has to deliver to a new address).

The customer is responsible for checking the apparent condition of delivered products (packaging and contents undamaged, especially concerning transport) and the conformity of the quantity of product(s) delivered to the order. Any apparent defects and/or any non-conformity of the quantity of product(s) delivered to the order must be reported by the customer to the carrier and confirmed by the customer, within fourteen days from the date of product reception, by sending to Katana Sword:

The customer must include their customer number and order reference in their request.

Otherwise, delivered packages and products will be considered free of apparent defect(s), and the quantity of products delivered conforming to the order.

Delivery time is indicated during the Order and in the Confirmation email. Indicatively, the delivery time for France ranges from 10 to 180 days.

If the customer explicitly writes instructions to leave their order at their doorstep or with a third party, Katana Sword is not responsible for theft or deterioration in product quality.

In case of non-compliance with the delivery times as specified above, the Customer must report it to Katana Sword by contacting Customer Services and providing a reasonable additional period to allow Katana Sword to identify the cause of such a delay and respond accordingly. In any case, if the delay in delivery is not due to force majeure, and if Katana Sword has not complied within the additional period, the Customer can cancel the Order by contacting Customer Services. Upon receiving this request for contract termination, the Client is refunded within a maximum of fourteen (14) days.

Any Order paid, in whole or in part, with a voucher, promotional coupon, or benefitting from any individual or collective promotional offer, can only be refunded, if applicable, in the form of a voucher, promotional coupon, or taking into account said promotional offer.


Antique Swords - Tokyo Nihonto ™

  1. General Delivery Period

Count 15 to 45 days post-order for delivery.

The delivery period is estimated as accurately as possible by the carriers but does not account for delays beyond our control, such as bad weather or holiday periods.

  1. Authentic Japanese Sword

To legally ship an authentic Japanese sword from Japan to another country, you need to apply for an export license from the Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkacho). We also have to return the original registration document to the Education Council. It usually takes between 2 and 4 weeks to receive this permit after submitting the required documents. Please allow at least 1 to 1.5 months for your order to arrive at the address you provided.

We've shipped authentic Japanese swords to the US, UK, Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, Hong Kong, and Australia. If you don't live in these countries and wish to order, please contact us before purchasing. We typically ship via EMS (Express Mail Service) provided by the Japanese post.

Residents of Japan are allowed to own authentic Japanese sword without a special license, as long as they come with registration documents. Don't hesitate to contact us if you live in Japan, whether temporarily or permanently. We will also assist you when leaving Japan, and you need to obtain an export license.

  1. Shipping Transport

We ship your package via EMS (Express Mail Service). We trust this shipping company completely. We've used their services for a long time and haven't had serious issues. You can check where your package is using the tracking number we provide.

  1. Customs Duties

You are responsible for paying all customs fees and local taxes to receive your order from Japan. Please check your country's laws before making a purchase on Tokyo Nihonto. The import of certain items might be restricted, depending on countries. We can inform you if we have previously shipped items to your country upon request.

We won't be responsible if customs seize the item you purchased. It's up to you to ensure the purchased item is allowed to be imported into your country.

  1. Caution

Tokyo Nihonto is not responsible for the loss of a package with an incorrect address due to a customer's mistake. We create our shipping labels based on the information the customer provides. If you accidentally enter an incorrect or incomplete address, inform us immediately (within 24 hours of your order).

If your package is returned to our address due to your prolonged absence, you must pay for reshipment fees.

If you haven't received your order after the expected delivery period, please check with your local post office. Keep in mind a longer period is required for authentic Japanese sword orders.
